EMDR Therapy

Unlocking the Path to Healing

Welcome to a transformative space where healing begins. If you've found your way here, you may be carrying the weight of past experiences, perhaps feeling stuck in the shadows of trauma. Joanna Nichols, LCSW specializes in EMDR therapy, a powerful tool that can guide you towards a brighter, more resilient future.

Life's journey can leave us with wounds that run deep, affecting our present and future. Whether you're grappling with the aftermath of a distressing event, struggling with anxiety, or feeling overwhelmed by past traumas, EMDR therapy could be the key to unlocking a life unburdened by the past.

In our EMDR therapy sessions, we follow the comprehensive 8 Phase Model. This road-map ensures a systematic and client-centered approach to processing traumatic memories and fostering a deep sense of resilience. From history-taking and treatment planning to reprocessing and evaluation, each phase is a carefully crafted step towards healing.

  1. History-Taking and Treatment Planning: Understanding your unique experiences and developing a road-map for your healing journey.

  2. Preparation: Establishing trust and ensuring you have the coping skills needed for the emotional journey ahead.

  3. Assessment: Identifying target memories and experiences to focus on during the EMDR process.

  4. Desensitization: Utilizing bilateral stimulation to process distressing memories, allowing your brain to rewire its response to them.

  5. Installation: Cultivating positive beliefs and emotions to replace negative self-perceptions.

  6. Body Scan: Addressing any residual physical tension or discomfort associated with traumatic memories.

  7. Closure: Ensuring you leave each session feeling grounded and secure.

  8. Re-evaluation: Assessing progress and addressing any remaining challenges on your path to healing.
